Many users are already familiar with layers from other geoinformation systems or image processing programs.

A layer is a layer that makes up a 2D map or image.

In PlexMap the term layer is generalized a bit further and stands for a publication of data from the magazine. Layers can be map content (2D and 3D), but also services like WFS or WMS.
