View setup
In the PlexMap backend, click the "Views" tab and then click the "+" button at the bottom right to create a new View. A window opens where you can edit the View. Optionally, you can use the preview mode to edit your view. Here you can see the effects of your changes on the View always live in the right part of the browser window.
Settings Anchor
In the "Settings" section you set basic values such as the name of the View as well as the URL under which the map is to be published.
Layer Anchor
In the "Layer" area you can add previously created Layers.
To do this, click in the Layer -> Search field, select a layer, and then click "Add Layer". Once you save your changes in the bottom right corner, the Layer will appear in your map. For each Layer you can set by setting the appropriate checkmarks whether the Layer should be visible in the Layer tree, whether it should be initially switched on and/or expanded and whether it should be queryable and/or exportable. With "show in group exclusively" you define that only one Layer within a layergroup shall be active at a time. Create layergroups with the button "Add group". A folder and a separator bar will appear. All Layers you drag between these two elements using the hatched area on the left side will now be in the layergroup. You can rename Layers and layergroups by double-clicking on the name and entering a new name.
Home View Anchor
In the "Home View" area you can define in which mode your View should start. Depending on which PlexMap Apps you have licensed, different options appear here. For example 2D, 3D and oblique aerial views. Choose the mode that matches your Layers. If you want to publish a View with multiple modes (for example, 2D and 3D content) just specify here which mode your map starts in. Further elaboration is then done in the Tools section. Setting "explicit start position" is mandatory in most cases. The easiest way to define where your map should start is to use the Vistacode. You can get a Vistacode by clicking on the "share" function in your view and copying the link displayed there and pasting it at "Vistacode".
POI Anchor
In the POI section you define points of interest for your view. How this works is explained in "Setting up POIs and flight tours".
Permissions Anchor
In the "Permissions" section of the view editor you can define who is allowed to see the created view.
By default, the publishing status is set to "internal only". Without further settings, only you can open and change the view you have created.
If you change this to "public" your view will be visible for all users in your network. If you run PlexMap in your intranet, all users of your intranet will be able to see it. If PlexMap is accessible externally, the view is accessible to everyone over the Internet.
You can restrict the publishing status via permissions and, for example, only allow certain users or user groups access (read/write).
If you want to grant external users password-protected access to your view, please set up a separate PlexMap account for these users via "User Management" and then allow access to your view.
Tools Anchor
In the "Tools" section you can set the appearance (General and Appearance tabs) and functionality of your View. The number of tabs listed here varies depending on the licensed functionality. As a rule, the settings possible here are self-explanatory. If you have any questions, please contact our support team, who will be happy to help you. Tip: Use "Search" to quickly find the desired setting.
